Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using distretto ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

Description of Service

distretto is a browser automation tool that uses artificial intelligence to help users interact with web pages through natural language commands. The Extension captures screenshots of web pages and sends them to OpenAI's API for processing.

Requirements

To use distretto, you must:

  1. Have a valid OpenAI API key
  2. Use Chrome browser version 116 or later
  3. Comply with OpenAI's terms of service and usage policies

User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide your own API key: You are responsible for obtaining and managing your own OpenAI API key
  • Pay for API usage: You are responsible for any costs incurred through OpenAI API usage
  • Use responsibly: Do not use distretto for illegal activities, harassment, spam, or any activity that violates the terms of service of websites you visit
  • Respect website terms: Comply with the terms of service of websites you automate
  • Protect your API key: Keep your API key secure and do not share it

Prohibited Uses

You may not use distretto to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Engage in unauthorized data scraping at scale
  • Circumvent security measures or access controls
  • Send spam or unsolicited messages
  • Harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Create fraudulent accounts or content
  • Violate the terms of service of any website

Disclaimer of Warranties

distretto is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy or reliability of results

The AI may make mistakes, misinterpret commands, or fail to execute actions correctly. You are responsible for verifying all actions taken by the Extension.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the developers of distretto be liable for any:

  • Direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Damages arising from the use or inability to use the Extension
  • Actions taken by the Extension on your behalf
  • Costs incurred through API usage

Third-Party Services

distretto relies on OpenAI's API. Your use of OpenAI's services is subject to OpenAI's terms of service and privacy policy. We are not responsible for:

  • OpenAI's service availability or performance
  • Changes to OpenAI's API or pricing
  • OpenAI's handling of your data

Intellectual Property

distretto and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by the developers and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue distretto at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to distretto immediately, without prior notice, for any breach of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the developers regarding the use of distretto.
